Spices give the dishes a piquant taste and tantalizing aroma. But not everyone knows how to store them properly.
Seasonings do not like light, heat, humidity, drafts. Therefore, keep them away from the stove and sink. The ideal place for spices is the middle shelf of a floor cabinet or kitchen cabinet with glassless doors.
1. As soon as you have purchased the spices, transfer them from the bags to special containers. Keep spices in dark glass jars or tin cans with tight-fitting lids to help them retain their aroma longer.
2. Never buy spices in reserve, they also have expiration dates, albeit quite long. For example, ground spices can last from 6 months to 2 years. Leafy - from 3 months to 2 years. But you should not store it for so long: they will not deteriorate, but they can lose the sharpness of taste and aroma. Buy those spices that you rarely use not in bags, but by weight.
3. Never store spices in the refrigerator. Even in a tightly closed jar, condensation may form, and the spices will be hopelessly spoiled - damp or moldy.
4. Do not pour spices directly from the jar into a pot of hot water: they may become saturated with moisture and lose their taste. The spoon you use to take out the seasoning should be completely dry.
5. Throw out expired and spoiled spices without regret. They can only harm the dish and can even cause poisoning.
