The fact that sea buckthorn is extremely useful has been known since ancient times. It is no coincidence that its berries were used by Chinese healers, recipes for medicinal infusions and decoctions from sea buckthorn are found in Ayurveda. There is even a legend that Genghis Khan himself ordered his indomitable army to brew sea buckthorn in order to smash enemies even more tirelessly. During the Soviet era, sea buckthorn oil was included in the daily diet of astronauts. According to a study by Finnish scientists who compared the beneficial properties of 25 different edible berries, sea buckthorn in many respects surpasses blueberries, raspberries, currants, and even the widely advertised and very expensive goji berries. So what is so useful in sea buckthorn? It:

  • vitamin C. By the content of ascorbic acid, better known as vitamin C, sea buckthorn is superior to citrus! In 100 g of berries, the concentration of a useful organic compound reaches 360 mg;
  • vitamins E, B1 and B2, vitamin K;
  • carotene. This pigment, which gives the bright orange color to the sea buckthorn berries, is the precursor of the vital vitamin A. Its concentration reaches 40 mg per 100 g of sea buckthorn;
  • up to 20 different minerals, including chromium, which helps stabilize blood pressure;
  • essential fatty acids, including linoleic and linolenic acids, among the useful properties of which are beneficial effects on the skin;
  • over 60 different antioxidants.

Sea buckthorn berries not only have a beneficial effect on the immune system, suppress appetite, have a healing effect on the heart, liver and kidneys, but also improve vision. Also, sea buckthorn is logged by the fact that

  • promotes colon health, relieves constipation, treats gastrointestinal infections;
  • fights inflammatory processes in the body, improves the appearance of hair and skin, fights various diseases of the latter, including eczema and dermatitis, accelerates healing;
  • increases mental activity and physical performance, stimulates cerebral circulation;
  • has a beneficial effect on the nervous system;
  • slows down the aging process.

Sea buckthorn tea recipe with honey

Sea buckthorn berries have a well-recognizable taste. It is believed that fresh berries harvested before frost are bitter. You can add not only sweets to tea, but also benefits, along with healing honey. For a half-liter French press, you will need:

- 150 g of sea buckthorn berries;

- 2 tablespoons of black tea;

- 2 tablespoons of natural liquid honey;

- 500 ml of hot water.

Sea buckthorn should be rinsed under running water and mashed 2/3 of the berries with a crush or blender. Put whole berries, sea buckthorn puree, black tea in a French-press flask and pour boiling water over it. Let it brew for 5-7 minutes, and then add honey. You can put honey together with the rest of the ingredients, but when heated, this useful product loses some of its healing properties.

Sea buckthorn tea graces the menus of many cafes and restaurants. Many people liked the recipe from the popular chain of coffee houses and users search on the Internet for “sea buckthorn tea, like in“Shokoladnitsa”. But the cafe workers are not eager to reveal their secret. Which does not prevent you from trying to prepare exactly the same drink. You will need:

- 200 g of sea buckthorn;

- 500 ml of boiling water;

- 1 medium lemon;

- 2 tablespoons of honey.

Crush half of the sea buckthorn berries in mashed potatoes. Place the lemon in the microwave for a few minutes to squeeze out as much juice as possible. Place whole and pureed berries in a French press, add juice and hot water. Brew for about 5-7 minutes, then add honey.

Sea buckthorn tea with ginger, citrus and rosemary

Want a delicious sea buckthorn tea recipe? Cook it with a variety of healthy and delicious ingredients.

- 200 g of sea buckthorn;

- 1 piece of ginger root (2-3 cm long);

- 2 large oranges;

- ½ lemon;

- 1 sprig of fresh rosemary;

- 2 tbsp. l. cane sugar.

Squeeze the juice from ¾ sea buckthorn berries. Grate the ginger root on a fine grater and also squeeze the juice. Cut 2 beautiful slices from one of the oranges, and squeeze the juice from the rest. Now it remains to get the juice from the lemon. Pour freshly squeezed juices into the kettle, add a sprig of rosemary, a slice of orange and the remaining berries, add sugar and pour boiling water over all the ingredients. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. A delicious and bright sea buckthorn drink is ready.
