Pike can be fried, having previously rolled in breading, or you can make batter. Moreover, there are several recipes for batter: regular, cheese, potato, with beer and others. And each gives an appetizing crust on fish with its own taste.
A simple recipe for fried pike
You will need the following products:
- 1 kg of pike:
- 100 g bread crumbs;
- 2 eggs;
- seasoning for fish;
- vegetable oil for frying;
- salt.
Step-by-step recipe for cooking fried pike in the usual way
It is better to fry a small, young pike, since it will not have the taste inherent in freshwater fish.
Scrape off small scales from the carcass, trim the fins with scissors, and remove the head and entrails. Rinse the fish under cold water and cut into portions.
Mix eggs and fish seasoning in a bowl, add salt to taste. Beat a little with a blender until smooth.
Place the breadcrumbs in another bowl. Useful advice: you can make such croutons yourself at home, just pass a dried loaf or bread through a meat grinder.
Start frying the fish this way. Take a bite at a time, dip in the egg mixture, then in breadcrumbs. And immediately put in a hot skillet.
When the pike is browned on one side, turn the pieces over. Cook over medium heat so the fish is well done and the bread mixture does not burn.
Breaded pike is tasty even cold; it is better to serve it with potatoes or with vegetable salad.
The recipe for marinated pike, fried in classic batter
You will need the following products:
- 1 pike (1-2 kg);
- 2 eggs;
- 1 lemon;
- 3 tbsp flour;
- 2-3 tbsp olive oil;
- spices for fish at will;
- vegetable oil for frying.

Step-by-step description of cooking pickled pike in batter
Clean and gut the fish carcass. Then cut off the fins, tail, and remove the head too. Helpful hint: don't throw it away, you can cook fish broth.
Wash the carcass and cut into pieces about 2-3 cm wide. Then divide each piece into 2 more along the ridge.
Prepare the marinade. Squeeze the juice out of the lemon, add fish spices to your taste, add salt if necessary, but usually the prepared seasonings are salty. Add olive oil and mix until smooth.
Place the pike pieces in the marinade and refrigerate for 30 minutes. During this time, the meat is saturated with the aroma of spices and acquires a slight sourness.
Make a classic batter. In a bowl, combine eggs and flour, a little salt, mix with a blender into a lump-free mass. The batter should be thick sour cream.
Heat the frying pan, pour the vegetable oil in a 1-1.5 cm layer. Dip the pieces of pike in the batter and immediately put them in the pan. Fry one side until browned, then turn the pike over. If there is a lot of oil, then the batter forms an appetizing crispy crust. Put the finished fish on paper towels, they will absorb the excess oil.
Fried pike in cheese batter
You will need the following products:
- 500 g pike fillet;
- 200 g of any hard cheese;
- 2 tbsp. l. low-fat mayonnaise;
- 2 tbsp. l. flour;
- 1 egg;
- sunflower oil for frying;
- salt.

Make cheese batter. Break an egg into a bowl, finely grate the cheese, add mayonnaise, spices, if desired. Stir and slowly
add flour. Stir again, you can use a blender, with it the mass will be more homogeneous.
Cut the pike fillets into small longitudinal strips, wash and remove excess moisture with napkins.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet until boiling. Pour more oil, in a layer of 2 cm. Reduce the fire to medium.
Dip the pieces of pike in the cheese and flour mass and immediately dip in hot vegetable oil. As soon as the crust of the batter turns golden brown, gently turn the fish over to the other side.

Beer Batter Fried Pike Recipe
You will need the following products:
- 500 g fillet or 1 pike in 1 kg;
- 250 ml of any light beer;
- 2 eggs;
- 250 g flour;
- sunflower oil for frying;
- breadcrumbs;
- spices as desired;
- salt.

The recipe requires fillet, if not, then cut the pike yourself. First, cut off the bottom with the fins. Then remove the insides. Make an incision below the head and cut the fillets with skin towards the tail. Repeat on the second side. Now place the meat piece on top and cut the fillets off the skin. Remove the remaining bones, wash. Then dry off excess water with napkins and cut the pike fillets into longitudinal strips.
Make beer batter. To do this, mix the beer with flour well so that there are no lumps. Add eggs, salt, spices to taste and stir again until smooth. The correct batter should be thick sour cream. Place the breadcrumbs in another bowl.
Pour a large amount of vegetable oil into a frying pan, heat. Dip each piece of fillet first in beer batter, then dip in the breading mixture and put in hot vegetable oil. When brown, turn over. Fry over medium heat.
Transfer the finished pieces to paper towels to drain off the fat. Serve hot grilled pike in beer batter with any vegetable salad or mashed potatoes.
Pike fried in potato batter
You will need the following products:
- fillet from one medium pike;
- 500 g potatoes;
- 2 eggs;
- lemon;
- 4 tablespoons flour;
- spices to taste;
- salt.

Separate the fillet from the pike. Cut across into small slices.
Squeeze out lemon juice, mix with spices of your choice.
Place the fillets in the marinade and toss with it. Leave it on for 30 minutes.

You will need the following products:
- pike (1-1.5 kg);
- 30 g sesame seeds;
- 4 eggs;
- 100 g butter;
- vegetable oil for frying;
- a couple of cloves of garlic;
- parsley;
- coriander to taste;
- salt, black pepper to taste.

Butcher the pike in the usual way: cut off the fins, head and tail, remove the entrails. Cut off fillets, remove seeds. Divide the fillets into 1.5 cm wide strips.
Make a batter. Combine eggs with flour, coriander and sesame seeds in a bowl. Season with salt to taste.
Pepper and salt the fish a little, but taking into account the fact that you have already put salt in the batter. Pour flour into a bowl.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Start frying the pike. In turn, roll each piece in flour, then in batter and again in flour. Then place in a hot skillet. There should be a lot of oil so that the pieces "float". Fry until golden brown on all sides. To remove excess oil, put the finished fish not on a plate, but first on a paper towel, it will absorb the fat.
Prepare the garlic sauce for the pike. Crush the garlic, combine with butter, then heat over low heat until liquid.
Transfer the sesame batter pike pieces to a plate, top with the garlic sauce and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley.
Take note of some helpful tips
To prevent the batter from spreading, place the fish in hot oil.
If you put a lid on the pan, the crust will be soft.
Do not place battered fish pieces close to each other in the pan, as they can stick together during the frying process.
