Oatmeal can be used to cook not only porridge, but also various soups with vegetables, side dishes and dumplings. You can also bake delicious cookies from them, and if you apply a little imagination and desire, and the oatmeal cake will come out wonderful.
Oatmeal cakes
To prepare this slightly unusual dessert, you will need:
- butter - 100 grams;
- oatmeal - 2 glasses;
- vanilla sugar - 1 sachet;
- sugar - 1 glass;
- raw eggs - 2 pieces;
- salt - a pinch.
First, you need to grind butter with sugar and raw eggs, then add oatmeal and vanilla sugar to this mass, add a little salt to the dough and knead everything well. Try to get a more or less homogeneous mass.
Next, you need to cover the baking sheet with oiled parchment paper and transfer the dough to it. The mass should be carefully leveled with a knife and placed in the oven. Bake the cake for about 20 minutes. The finished dessert should be cut into pieces immediately hot, otherwise, when cooled, the flakes will caramelize and become hard.
If desired, oat cake can be supplemented with whipped cream, for this you need to take:
- heavy cream - 150 ml;
- icing sugar - 100 grams.
Chilled heavy cream will need to be whipped into a strong foam, gradually adding powdered sugar to them. You can cover each cake with the finished foam, additionally decorating the dessert with candied fruits.
Custard dumplings with blueberry sauce
You will need the following products:
- oatmeal (small) - ½ cup;
- flour - ½ cup;
- raw eggs - 2 pieces;
- butter - 1 tbsp. the spoon;
- salt;
- water (for dough) - 2 tbsp. spoons;
- water (for the sauce) - 4 glasses;
- starch - 1 tbsp. the spoon;
- blueberry jam - 1 glass;
- sugar;
- lemon acid.
Sifted flour and small oatmeal must be combined and mixed. Then you need to boil 2 tablespoons of water, melt butter in boiling water, add salt. Stir all the time, add the flour and cereal mixture and boil for 7-8 minutes. Try to grind the lumps formed during cooking as thoroughly as possible. Next, the resulting choux pastry must be removed from the stove and put to cool, after cooling, beat the eggs into the mass one by one and knead the dough thoroughly.
Now you should boil the salted water in a separate saucepan. To make the dumplings even and beautiful, you need to make them with two spoons: a teaspoon and a canteen. With a large spoon, you need to collect the dough, pressing it against the wall of the bowl so that it thickens in the spoon, then you need to moisten a teaspoon in boiling water and use it to choose the dough from a large spoon and immediately lower the dumplings into a saucepan with boiling water. If you follow these rules, the dumplings will be oblong and all will be the same size.
Cook the dumplings until they all float up, then remove them with a slotted spoon and put them in deep plates, pour with blueberry sauce.
To get the sauce, put the blueberry jam in a small saucepan and pour boiling water over it, stir and boil, strain the mixture through a sieve. Then fill the broth with sugar and stir. Dissolve the starch separately in cold water, pour the mixture into the broth and boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring. At the end of cooking, add a little citric acid or squeeze lemon juice.
