Turron is a traditional Christmas dish in Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic, which is made with honey, sugar, egg white and nuts.
Initially, this delicacy was of two types - hard and soft, depending on whether the nuts used in the recipe are crushed. Nowadays, you can find dozens of varieties - with chocolate, puffed rice, candied fruits and many others. The same recipe will help you prepare the classic Gijon turron.
It is necessary
- - sugar 250 grams
- - honey 250 grams
- - almonds 250 grams
- - hazelnuts 250 grams
- - 5 egg whites
- - 1 waffle cake
Instructions
Step 1
Peel the nuts, fry until golden brown in a dry frying pan and grind into crumbs.
Step 2
Beat the egg whites with a mixer until fluffy, add chopped nuts and mix gently.
Step 3
Mix honey and sugar and cook over low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved, then add the protein-nut mass, mix thoroughly and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
Step 4
Put the resulting mass in an even layer on a waffle cake and leave to solidify in a cool place (but not in the refrigerator). Cut into portions before serving. If desired, the turron can be sprinkled with cinnamon or garnished with marzipans.
