Roast is a delicious dish, the main ingredients of which are potatoes and meat. But technically, this dish cannot be called simple. The entire cooking process can take over two hours. But if you want to save a little time and money, try making a roast with chicken meat. It tastes as rich as meat roast, and cooks faster. In addition, such a dish is less high in calories.
It is necessary
- - chicken carcass (you can take thighs, drumsticks or legs) - 1 kg;
- - potatoes - 1 kg;
- - onions - 4 pcs.;
- - tomatoes - 3-4 pcs. or tomato paste - 2-3 tbsp. l.;
- - vegetable oil - 100 ml;
- - a mixture of peppers;
- - salt;
- - dill, parsley or cilantro;
- - a cauldron or a deep thick-walled pan with a lid.
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the chicken carcass under running water, dry it slightly and cut into portions. Rub each piece with a mixture of peppers and salt to taste. Leave to soak for 5-10 minutes.
Step 2
Meanwhile, peel the onion, rinse and cut into thin half rings. If you have tomatoes, you can chop them into cubes or simply divide them into 6-8 pieces. Put the cauldron on the stove, pour vegetable oil into it and heat it.
Step 3
Toss in the chopped onion and sauté for about 10 minutes. As soon as it acquires a golden color, put the pieces of chicken in the cauldron, mix everything and fry until the chicken meat becomes golden brown.
Step 4
Then add tomatoes or tomato paste to the onions and chicken and fry for about 5 minutes. Then pour water into the cauldron so that it completely covers its contents. Add salt, some pepper and bring to a boil. Then lower the temperature to a minimum, cover and cook for about 15 minutes.
Step 5
Meanwhile, peel the potatoes, rinse and cut into circles about 1 cm thick. Place in a cauldron, bring to a boil again and simmer under the lid until cooked.
Step 6
When the roast is done, let it sit a little, about 5-10 minutes. And then arrange in portions and sprinkle with chopped herbs to taste - parsley, cilantro or dill. Serve with brown bread or garlic donuts.
