Sometimes, for a more solemn serving of salads, not ordinary salad bowls are used, but special dough molds. You can prepare them from purchased dough or homemade. You can choose whatever shape you like, as long as it is original and fits the general style of the served table.
Instructions
Step 1
Such molds are best made from shortcrust pastry. To prepare it, grind sugar with eggs until foam is obtained and gently add softened margarine. Mix everything with flour and knead into a tough dough. You can also use puff pastry, both yeast and yeast-free, or with various additives: curd, cheese. You can just buy ready-made dough in the store.
Step 2
Put it in the cold for thirty minutes so that the margarine freezes and does not spread.
Step 3
In the meantime, prepare the baking dishes. These can be ordinary tin molds. It is also good to use silicone molds, they are connected to each other, so they are easy to put on and take out of the oven. And the finished dough falls out of them easier. Pre-grind them with flour from the inside. There are also special forms with a non-stick coating.
Step 4
Then, cutting off small pieces of dough, roll out the cakes and place in a mold. Use your hands to press the edges gently against the sides. You can also immediately roll out a large layer, lay it out on metal molds pressed tightly to each other. Then roll out the entire layer with a rolling pin. Thus, everything will be filled at once. To prevent the dough from rising too much during baking, pour any cereal into the molds on top of the dough, this will help keep the shape.
Step 5
Oven-safe. Bake the tartlets at 180-220 degrees. After removing the tins from the oven, carefully pour in the cereals and let the dough cool. Then release from tin forms.
Step 6
If you don't have any molds at hand, you can come up with original leaves. To do this, roll out the dough, cut it out in the form of a maple leaf (make a blank of cardboard in advance). Cut a circle inside each, but do not cut through the dough, but only outline the contours with a sharp knife. Brush the edges with an egg and place in the oven.
Step 7
After the dough is baked, carefully peel off the cut circles. The result is ready-made leaves with a void inside, into which you can put any filling. They are suitable both for various salads and for pâté, small mushrooms, etc.
Step 8
To make molds from shortcrust pastry, you will need: flour - 750 grams, butter or margarine - 250 grams, sugar 230 grams, egg - 2 pieces.
