Chili con carne is a Mexican dish, which means chili with meat in Spanish. The main ingredients of this dish are hot chili peppers and meat, usually beef. Various spices complement the taste of this dish.

  • - 50 ml of sunflower oil
  • - 2 tsp oregano
  • - 1 tsp cumin
  • - 1 onion
  • - 3 cloves of garlic
  • - ½ sweet green pepper
  • - 2 chili peppers
  • - 2 tsp ground chili
  • - 700 g of tomatoes in their own juice
  • - 1 tsp salt
  • - 30 g sugar
  • - 500 g red beans
  • - ½ lime
  • - 20 g dark chocolate

Instructions

Step 1

Cut the meat into small pieces or scroll in a meat grinder.

Step 2

Heat the sunflower oil in a frying pan and fry the meat until the liquid evaporates completely and the crust is browned - 10-12 minutes.

Step 3

During this time, prepare the spices with vegetables. Mix oregano, cumin and chili in a mortar and lightly grind.

Wash onions, bell peppers, garlic and chili, peel and cut into small cubes.

Step 5

When the meat is browned, transfer it to a saucepan where your dish will be stewed. Throw the chopped onion into the remaining oil, fry until transparent and add the rest of the vegetables to it. Fry, stirring occasionally, for 2-4 minutes. Then cover with spices. Stir, reduce heat and simmer for another 2 minutes. Send the entire contents of the pan to the meat.

Chop the canned tomatoes and add them to the meat.

Step 7

Add ½ cup boiling water or broth. Then add salt, sugar, mix everything, cover and leave to simmer over low heat for 1, 5 hours. Then toss in the beans and squeeze out the lime juice.

Step 8

Stir the dish, taste with salt. Then cover and simmer for another 30 minutes. Add dark chocolate 5 minutes before tenderness and stir. The dish is ready!
