Dumplings with potatoes and cabbage are hearty and tasty, a truly Ukrainian dish. There are many options for making dumplings: with cottage cheese, cherries …, but dumplings with potatoes and cabbage are among the most popular because of inexpensive and affordable products.

It is necessary

  • - 4 tbsp. flour;
  • - 1 PC. eggs;
  • - 1 tbsp. water;
  • - salt;
  • - 150 g of carrots;
  • - 500 g of cabbage;
  • - 500 g of potatoes;
  • - 3 pcs. onions;
  • - 130 ml of sunflower oil.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a dough. Sift the flour and, pouring it into a large bowl, make a depression in the middle, pour in warm water, an egg, salt to taste and knead a tough dough. If desired, you can add two tablespoons of vegetable oil to the dough, but sometimes this makes it "floating".

Step 2

Prepare the filling for dumplings according to the same cooking principle as for filling pies. For the potato filling, boil the potatoes in salted water. Finely chop the onion and save it. Puree the potatoes and mix with the stir-fry, let cool.

Step 3

For the cabbage filling, chop the cabbage. Separately, lightly fry the chopped onions and grated carrots in a preheated skillet with oil. Then add the cabbage and simmer covered over low heat. When the cabbage is almost done, season with salt and tomato paste. Simmer until the cabbage is done.

Step 4

Use your hands to form a thin rope about two centimeters in diameter from the resulting dough, cut it into pieces, and then, sprinkling flour on the board, roll each piece of dough with a rolling pin.

Step 5

Make a sauce for the dumplings. Ukrainian dumplings are always served with onion gravy. To prepare it, chop two large onions and fry until golden brown in a skillet with half a glass of sunflower oil.

Step 6

Place the dumplings in boiling, well-salted water. As soon as the dumplings come up, they are almost ready. Boil them for another minute and place them on a dish with a slotted spoon. Pour the onion gravy over the layers of dumplings from the pan. Serve Ukrainian dumplings in a clay bowl.
