Borscht can be safely called the king of soups, it is so popular among the people. What kind of borscht draws our imagination?   • - potatoes - 6-8 pcs.
  • - cabbage - 0.5 kg
  • - beets - 2 pcs. (medium)
  • - carrots - 1 pc.
  • - apples (preferably sour) - 2 pcs.
  • - tomatoes - 1 pc.
  • - onions - 2 pcs.
  • - tomato paste - 2 tbsp. spoons
  • - bell pepper - 2 pcs.
  • - pork fat - 100 g
  • - allspice - 2 peas
  • - bay leaf, salt
  • - greens

Instructions

Step 1

Put thinly sliced bacon in a wide preheated frying pan. Make sure that the fat is melted gradually, but not burned. Periodically, you need to turn the plates over and remove the greaves from the pan, adding new slices.

Step 2

When enough fat has melted, vegetables can be added. Cut the beets and carrots into small cubes, chop the onion and send to the pan. Fry and simmer over low heat, under a closed lid, stirring occasionally. You can add a little water to avoid burning. Simmer until vegetables are tender, about half an hour.

Step 3

Pour water into a saucepan and boil. Chop the cabbage and dip in the broth, then send the chopped bell pepper and diced tomato. Salt. Finely chop the apples and add to the total mass, throw the peppercorns there.

Step 4

Add a tablespoon of sugar without topping and a teaspoon of 9% vinegar to the frying of vegetables. Vinegar is needed so that the beets retain their bright, beautiful color. Mix the ingredients well and add the tomato paste. Simmer for a couple of minutes, with constant stirring, then put the dressing in a saucepan with broth.

Step 5

Cut the potatoes into cubes and dip in the broth last. At the end of cooking, add bay leaves and finely chopped herbs. When the potatoes are boiled, the soup is ready. Ready borscht is eaten with sour cream, seasoned with fresh herbs. Greaves can be added to the pot or plate if desired. Borscht without meat is practically a dietary dish, it is much easier to digest, therefore it is useful for those who want to keep their figure.
