Sugar has entered our daily diet since childhood. Human taste buds identify sugar as a source of energy and an increase in the dopamine hormone. Grandmothers always said that sugar is a source of glucose, so you should definitely eat porridge with it for breakfast. However, progress does not stand still, and sugar, in particular, is also not the same.

Types of sugar

Sugar can be roughly divided into natural and synthetic. Natural is the one that is found in dairy products (lactose), cereals and, of course, in fruits (fructose) - from them you can get, for example, grape or banana sugar. Artificial or synthetic sugar is refined sugar that is made from beets or sugarcane, but due to the complete lack of vitamins and trace elements, it is only a conductor to many diseases and unwanted weight. The difference between fructose and lactose from ordinary sugar is that the former enter the body, carrying a string of nutrients with them: for example, eating an apple, a person gets a good amount of fiber, which is completely absent in refined sugar.

In pursuit of greater profit, manufacturers are using increasingly cheaper options for refined sugar, and finished products with it contain huge quantities of it. Of course, in order to avoid excessive sugaryness or, conversely, a lack of sweetness, research is carried out and the optimal amount of sweetener for each product is determined in order to determine the correct proportion.

Thus, following his food addiction, a person deliberately consumes useless calories that will not pass without a trace. It is better, of course, to completely abandon sugar, since it does not bring any benefits, but rather the opposite. The notorious belief that sugar is a source of glucose has long been disproved - glucose is found in almost all foods, so a person gets enough of it during regular meals.

So, the safest is natural sugar, namely:

  • grape
  • banana
  • Jerusalem artichoke syrup, agave
  • coconut

These types of sugar are safe, although you shouldn't forget about the balance. Honey, of course, can also be attributed to this list, but it is even more high-calorie, and therefore it is immeasurable to use it, if only because with its help you can overcome a cold, is not a good idea. There are also known sugar substitutes in different variations - stevia, erythritol, etc. Today, the safety as well as the harm of such substitutes has not been proven, so they should also be treated with caution, especially in terms of the daily dosage.

Refined sugar is distinguished by its very low cost, availability, ubiquity and apparent safety. It is not for nothing that they call it "the white death", but what is not prohibited, as if it does not pose a threat. In fact, ordinary sugar, which is now added to almost everything, is addictive - the same drug addiction. That is why it is necessary to make a choice as early as possible in favor of sanity, safety and love for your body.
