Using red lentils for soup is convenient because it only takes 10-12 minutes to cook without presoaking. And spices and seasonings will help make the soup not only hearty, but also very fragrant.

- - 200 gr. red lentils;
- - 900 ml of water;
- - 20 ml of olive oil;
- - half a teaspoon of mustard seeds;
- - a teaspoon of garam masala seasoning mixture;
- - 3/4 teaspoon of cumin seeds;
- - a pinch of turmeric;
- - onion;
- - 4 cloves of garlic;
- - a tomato;
- - green chili pepper;
- - a teaspoon of lemon juice;
- - salt.
Instructions
Step 1
Chop the onion, garlic, chili and tomato.
Step 2
Rinse the lentils and pour 900 ml of water. If the lentils are whole, boil them for 10 minutes after boiling, and the halves for 5 minutes. It should be cooked almost until tender, but not boiled.
Step 3
Pour olive oil into the pan and pour the mustard seeds, wait 20-30 seconds for them to open in hot oil.
Step 4
Add caraway seeds, turmeric and onions. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 2 minutes and add the garlic.
Step 5
Fry the onion with garlic and spices for 1 minute and add the tomato and pepper to the pan. Simmer for another 2 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer the lentils with broth to the pan. Salt and add the garam masala spice mixture. Let the soup boil, reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot soup.
