  • - onion head - 1 pc.;
  • - soy sauce - 3 tbsp. l.;
  • - brown granulated sugar - 6 tsp;
  • - ginger root - 1 pc.;
  • - hot red pepper;
  • - vegetable oil for frying;
  • - salt.

Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the pork knuckle and put it in a saucepan. Use cold water to cover the shank completely and bring to a boil over medium heat. After that, take out the shank and transfer to a separate plate, and set aside the broth for now, it will come in handy a little later.

Step 2

Peel the onions and garlic and cut into small pieces. Chop the ginger root also finely. Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan or cauldron, heat it up and add chopped onion, garlic and ginger. Cook everything together for 5 minutes. Add brown sugar and a few pinches of hot red pepper. Mix everything well.

Step 3

Transfer the pork knuckle to the pan and fry well on all sides. After that, pour it with soy sauce and pour over the broth that remained after cooking. Bring to a boil and simmer on low heat for 3 hours. Add salt 1 hour before the end of the time.
