Mayonnaise is not only delicious, but also a very nutritious sauce. It is mainly used to improve the taste of a dish. Unfortunately, today you should not feed yourself with illusions about its beneficial properties (of course, if it is not homemade). Unscrupulous manufacturers add preservatives to mayonnaise to increase shelf life, which sometimes makes this product harmful to human health.

Instructions

Step 1

Pay attention to the appearance of the packaging. It must be intact, indicating the date of production of the product, its shelf life, GOST, and the name of the manufacturer.

Step 2

Buy mayonnaise in glass so you can appreciate its appearance. A good sauce is thick, has a uniform consistency, creamy or white, and does not contain lumps or bubbles. If you have doubts about a product, you better not buy it.

Step 3

Carefully read the composition of the sauce on the packaging. Mayonnaise is based on yolks and vegetable (olive) oil. In addition to them, it is allowed to add vinegar, mustard, citric acid and salt to the product. If the package says that the sauce contains egg powder, milk powder, emulsifiers and stabilizers, then it is better not to buy it. The use of such a product can lead to gastrointestinal diseases.

Step 4

Pay attention to the fat content of the mayonnaise. A real sauce cannot be low in calories (since it must contain yolks) - this is a manufacturer's trick for gullible buyers. This product contains many preservatives. Therefore, it is not recommended to eat it.

Step 5

Look at the shelf life of the mayonnaise on the packaging. A good sauce should last no more than 3 months. For example, if a manufacturer writes that a product has a shelf life of 6 or 12 months, then it contains emulsifiers and stabilizers.

Step 6

Pay attention to the conditions under which the mayonnaise is stored. In the summer, it should be kept strictly in the refrigerator, and in the winter at room temperature up to 18 degrees. Just keep in mind that high temperatures will shorten its shelf life. Therefore, it is best to buy mayonnaise at a grocery store that has refrigeration equipment.
