Pineapples present some difficulty in cutting, unlike other fruits. Proper cleaning and cutting of an exotic fruit allows you to taste all its sweetness. How do you handle pineapple properly?
How to choose a pineapple
To begin with, the pineapple must be chosen correctly. This is where a good sense of smell comes in handy. The fruit should have a sweet and fresh scent with no signs of fermentation. The pineapple color should not be green, although its slight presence is allowed here and there on the sides. But the bottom of the fruit should be yellow. And the fruit itself is not rumpled, hard to the touch and heavy. Excessive softness indicates that the pineapple is overripe.
How to peel pineapple
In order to properly peel the pineapple, it must be put on its side, the stem and leaves must be cut off, removing a centimeter from its top. Next, you need to put the fruit vertically and cut off the peel from the sides. In this case, you need to be especially careful in order to move along the contour of the fruit and not cut off too thick a layer, keeping the sweetest part located immediately under the skin. In order to properly remove black eyes, you need to make a V-cut diagonally and remove all the eyes at once, located in one row.
How to cut pineapple
To slice the pineapple, lay it sideways and cut it into whole, round slices about two centimeters thick. If the core is cut using a special shape (for example, for dough), then rings are obtained.
To cut the pineapple into smaller pieces after the round slices have been made, stand the fruit upright and cut it further lengthwise into four pieces. Then remove the core and cut it in half again every quarter if necessary.
Due to the content of vitamin C, fiber and trace elements, pineapple is very healthy and tasty with yogurt, nuts, whipped cream. It can be added to many dishes and can be used as a garnish.
