In stores today you can find a large assortment of instant dry yeast. They are convenient if you want to quickly bake something from yeast dough. But some foodies prefer to cook the yeast themselves.
It is necessary
-
- malt;
- sugar;
- water;
- berries;
- bread;
- bottled beer.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide what you need yeast for. For example, different cultures are used to make beer and butter dough, and the rules for growing them differ from each other.
Step 2
For bread yeast, take berries that contain them, such as grapes or plums. Mash them and add water and sugar in a 3: 1: 1 ratio. Leave the resulting mixture in a warm place for a week. After removing the foam, you can dry the resulting mixture and use it in baking. You can also use bread instead of berries, but in this case you will not be able to breed wild yeast cultures.
Step 3
Find a suitable starting material for the cultivation of brewer's yeast. This can be beer that is meant to mature in a bottle. Most often it is found in German, English or Belgian manufacturers. Naturally, the beer should not be pasteurized.
Step 4
Add wort to a small amount of your chosen beverage to stimulate the growth of the right type of yeast. It is made from ground malt (sprouted barley), boiled with the addition of water and subsequently strained. The wort at the first stage will only need a few milliliters. Place the bottle in a warm place and wait for the fermentation process to begin. After that, you can add more wort. As a result of cultivation, the yeast should increase in volume at least tenfold. After that, you can use the resulting culture to brew beer.
