Despite the general similarity of the structure, even by external signs, you can distinguish champignon from toadstool. There are certain subtleties, learning which you can reduce the chances of error.
Instructions
Step 1
If you take in hand and carefully examine the champignon and toadstool, then, of course, you can find several differences. For example, a mushroom skirt. The white toadstool has practically no skirt, it is very weakly expressed, while in the champignon it covers the hat from its inside almost completely. It is worth paying attention to the thickness of the mushroom leg. The mushroom leg is dense and plump, while the toadstool has it much thinner, about one and a half to two times.
Step 2
Another, perhaps the most interesting, distinguishing feature of these mushrooms is that they have a different smell. Perhaps not every nose is able to feel it, but there is still a difference. The fact is that the smell of champignon, even raw, is much nicer than that of a toadstool.
Step 3
If you come across wormy mushrooms, then distinguishing a mushroom from a toadstool is as easy as shelling pears. You just need to cut the mushroom. If the larvae have made their own paths inside the mushroom, then this is definitely a champignon. It is believed that even worms do not eat pale toadstools, because they are poisonous.
Step 4
There is another effective, but long enough way to distinguish champignon from a poisonous mushroom. To do this, you need to take two saucepans and onions. If you boil a toadstool with the onion, the onion will acquire a bluish tint, while the onion cooked with champignons will not change its color in any way. This will make it as clear as possible which mushroom is edible and which is not.
Step 5
Some seasoned mushroom pickers claim that the edible mushroom always has a slightly pinkish tint, which is one of the signs that it is safe. If the mushroom is old, then you can focus on the brownish color. So, if you take a champignon mushroom and look at its cap from the inside, then it will seem slightly pinkish or brownish to you. But the toadstool is pale, whatever one may say.
