Crackers are the simplest type of cookie. It is not at all difficult to prepare it at home, and you can serve this pastry both with sweet tea, coffee, and as a base for sandwiches. Crackers made according to the recipe below always turn out incredibly tasty and crunchy.
It is necessary
- - 300 g flour;
- - 150 g of chilled butter;
- - 50 ml of milk with a fat content of 2.5 to 3.5%;
- - 3/4 teaspoon salt.
Instructions
Step 1
First, cool the butter until it squeezes in your hand. As soon as it has cooled down, grate it into a deep bowl on a coarse grater so that it does not have time to melt.
Step 2
Stir the flour and salt, sift this mixture into a bowl of grated butter. Next, grind this mass with your hands into small crumbs.
Step 3
Gradually pour cold milk into the resulting crumb (it is better to keep it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before cooking) and knead the dough. As a result, you should have a very plastic mass, but liquidish.
Step 4
Wrap the dough in a plastic bag and place it in the freezer for one hour to cool slightly.
Step 5
As soon as the indicated time has passed, remove the dough from the chamber, place it on the work surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out so that its thickness is no more than 0.5 cm (ideal thickness is 2-3 mm). Next, cut out the cookies with special cutters (you can also use an ordinary knife). If you use a knife, then you can experiment and cut out figures in the form of a circle, square, rectangle, Christmas tree, heart, etc.
Step 6
Prepare a baking sheet: line it with parchment, and sprinkle the parchment on top with flour. Place the prepared figurines on a baking sheet. Prick each product with a fork and sprinkle with salted milk (for 10 ml of milk 0.5 teaspoon of coarse salt).
Step 7
Bake cookies in the oven for no more than 15 minutes, adjusting the temperature to 190-200 degrees.
