Stuffed cabbage, being a dish of Ukrainian and Russian cuisine, reminds home comfort in the best possible way. There are many variations of such a traditional food, but the classic cabbage rolls will appeal to everyone.

- 400 g of meat;
- 1 head of white cabbage (800-1000 g);
- 1/2 tbsp. rice;
- 3-4 onions;
- 1 large carrot;
- 4-5 cloves of garlic;
- 2-3 tomatoes;
- salt
- spice
- Bay leaf;
- vegetable oil for frying.
Instructions
Step 1
Peel and wash onions and garlic. Cut the onion into quarters. Rinse the meat under running water. Cut into large pieces. Mince meat, onions and garlic through a meat grinder. Mix thoroughly. Add spices and salt to taste.
Step 2
Rinse the rice several times in running water. Pour boiling water over and cook, stirring occasionally, until half cooked. Season with salt to taste. Remove the cooked rice from heat, rinse and cool. Put the boiled rice in the minced meat and mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Prepare cabbage leaves at the same time as minced meat. To do this, boil water in a large saucepan. Carefully cut the stalk out of the head of cabbage so that the leaves do not disintegrate. Place the prepared cabbage in boiling water and, reducing the heat to medium, boil for 5-7 minutes so that the leaves become soft, but do not lose elasticity. Remove the boiled head of cabbage from the boiling water, cool, spread it on the table, cutting off the stems to the thickness of the sheet.
Step 4
Place the minced meat on each prepared cabbage leaf and gently fold it into an envelope. Place in a saucepan.
Step 5
Peel carrots, onions and garlic. Wash. Grate the carrots. Chop the onion and garlic. Simmer all ingredients in hot vegetable oil for a few minutes until half cooked. Wash the tomatoes. Cut into cubes. Place in grilled vegetables. Salt and simmer until moisture evaporates.
Step 6
Pour stuffed cabbage rolls in a saucepan with hot water (if possible, with meat broth) to the level of the top row. Spoon the vegetable dressing and spread evenly over the entire surface. Simmer over low heat for 30-40 minutes, maintaining a slight simmer. Put 2-3 bay leaves a couple of minutes before cooking.
Step 7
Serve the prepared cabbage rolls hot with sour cream or sauce.
