Step 1

Lentils, unlike their legume counterparts, do not require presoaking and cook much faster.

Step 2

The first step is preparing the lentils. It must be washed repeatedly and thoroughly, then pour half a liter of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then we reduce the fire a little.

Step 3

While the water in the saucepan is boiling, we prepare vegetables - onions and carrots. We clean them, rub the carrots on a coarse grater, chop the onions. Using a food processor (if available) is also not prohibited.

Step 4

Add chopped vegetables to the lentils that are already being prepared, then add salt, bay leaf, mix everything well, bring to a boil and make the fire small.

Step 5

Lentil porridge is cooked for about half an hour or forty minutes, lentil cereals should be well boiled.

Step 6

After the lentils are completely cooked, add the garlic squeezed through a press into it and mix well. Can be added to porridge and ground black pepper.

Step 7

Lentil porridge, like porridge from other cereals, should be flavored with butter. Someone may prefer creamy, and someone olive, which will also be very appropriate here.
