Duck is traditionally cooked on holidays. In many countries, duck is a must-have dish on the Christmas table. Traditions are repeated from year to year, but the method of preparing your favorite dish may be different. The well-known recipe for duck with apples and prunes can have several options. Here is one of them.

- Sour apple - 1 pc
- Onion - 1 large onion
- Ginger - 2 tbsp. spoons (dried or freshly grated)
- Prunes - 250 g
- Cherry jam - 2 tbsp spoons
- Butter - 1 tbsp. the spoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp. the spoon
- Salt - 0.5 tsp
- Ground black pepper - 0.5 tsp
- Large refractory mold
- Baking foil
Instructions
Step 1
Take a sour green apple. Wash it and divide it into eight pieces, remove the core. Place in a bowl, drizzle with lemon juice and stir with 1 tbsp. a spoonful of dried ginger root. Add the chopped onion.
Step 2
Wash the duck, pat dry with a paper towel. Gently pierce the skin with a knife in several places without damaging the meat. Rub the duck inside and out with a mixture of salt and pepper. Put half of the apples and onions inside the duck on the tail side. Sew up the incision or stab it with special skewers.
Step 3
For the filling, peel and finely chop the onion. Wash the prunes and cut them into slices. Melt the butter in a deep frying pan, fry the onion in it, about 5 minutes. Remove the frying pan from heat, add 1 tbsp. l. jam, prunes and mix thoroughly.
Step 4
Slice the carcass at the neck and fill the duck with the onion and prune filling. Sew up the incision.
Step 5
Place the duck in a fireproof dish, cover the duck tightly with a sheet of foil oiled with vegetable oil. Bake for 1.5 hours in a preheated oven to 200 ° C. Water the poultry with the juice that comes out during cooking all the time.
Step 6
Melt the rest of the jam. Remove the form with the bird from the oven, remove the foil and grease the carcass with jam. Put the remaining apples in the mold and place in the oven for another 40 minutes.
