Ingredients for Chrysanthemum cookies
- 1 cup of sugar;
- 3 eggs;
- 0.5 tsp soda slaked with vinegar or 1 sachet of baking powder;
- 250 gr. butter or margarine;
- 2, 5-3 glasses of flour.
Preparation
Divide the butter (or margarine) into several parts and let the product soften. It should not be heated in the microwave or on the stove to a liquid state.
In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until sugar melts. Add slaked baking soda (or baking powder) and whisk again. Then add soft butter (or margarine) and stir until smooth. It is recommended to use a mixer at this stage.
Add a little flour to the resulting mixture, while stirring constantly. When it becomes difficult to stir the dough with a mixer or spoon, place it on a floured table and knead with your hands. Add flour until the dough stops sticking to your hands. It should come out soft, but not too elastic. Cover the finished dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes. To cool it down faster, you can divide the dough into several pieces.
Now prepare the meat grinder. Separate a quarter from the cooled dough (put the rest in the refrigerator) and pass through a meat grinder. When the dough comes out 5-7 centimeters, holding it from the bottom with your hand, cut off at the base. This gives the cookie the shape of a chrysanthemum. Place the finished "flower" on a baking sheet sprinkled with flour or covered with baking paper. There is no need to lubricate it with oil, because a sufficient amount of it is contained in the test. In order for the subsequent cookies to be beautiful and neat, each time you need to clean the grill of the meat grinder from the remnants of the dough.
Add the dough from the refrigerator as the cookies are shaped. You need to do everything quickly enough so that the dough does not melt and lose its shape. Place the filled baking sheet in an oven preheated to 200 degrees and bake for 35-40 minutes. When the finished cookies have cooled down, it is recommended to sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
Chrysanthemum cookies are perfect for morning tea or coffee, they can be served to guests. You can add zest to the liver by adding vanilla or cinnamon, cottage cheese or chopped nuts, and coconut to the dough. The recipe is quite versatile and gives room for imagination. The cookies will appeal to both adults and children. The ingredients are simple and can be found in any refrigerator.
