Instructions
Step 1
Take a piece of lard. Fried potatoes will be tastier if the bacon is with meat layers. Rinse the bacon under cold running water and pat dry with a paper towel.
Step 2
Cut the bacon into 5 mm thick slices. There should be enough lard slices to line the bottom of the pan in which you will fry the potatoes.
Step 3
Peel the potatoes, rinse well. Cut each potato in half, then cut each half into 2–3 mm slices. Rinse the chopped potatoes in cold water again.
Step 4
Peel the onion, chop it.
Step 5
Put bacon in a frying pan, put it on fire. Potatoes fried in a cast-iron pan are very tasty, but you can also take a pan with a non-stick coating.
Step 6
Fry the lard on one side until golden brown. Turn it over gently and cook for a few minutes. This should be done without covering the pan with a lid.
Step 7
Place the potatoes on top of the fried bacon. Cover the skillet with a lid and fry the potatoes, stirring occasionally, over low heat.
Step 8
Add the chopped onion to the fried potatoes 10 minutes before the end of cooking. Mix everything and bring the potatoes until tender.
Step 9
Season the potatoes and onions with salt 5 minutes before the end of frying.
Step 10
Put the finished potatoes with a crispy golden crust on a plate. Sprinkle it with chopped green onions and baby dill. Serve vegetable salad, pickled or pickled mushrooms, cucumbers and tomatoes with fried potatoes and onions. You can also put salted herring fillets on the table.
