Sugar cookies can be called one of the simplest and most affordable homemade desserts. These are sweet crumbly shortcrust pastry biscuits, usually made with butter or margarine, sugar, chicken eggs and flour. The dough is kneaded in just a few minutes. After the cookies are molded, they are sprinkled with sugar (hence the name), sent to the oven - and soon a delicious family treat can be served with tea, coffee, cocoa or milk. You can diversify the recipe with various fillings and glazes, and you can add cocoa, nuts or candied fruits to the dough. Experiment and you will find exactly the option that your household will love the most!

Basic sugar cookie recipe

You can make sugar cookies using this recipe in just 30 minutes. You will need:

Sugar - 200 g;

Butter - 230 g;

Flour - 280 g;

An egg - 1 pc.;

· Vanilla sugar - to taste;

· Soda (or baking powder) - 0.5 tsp.

Mix softened butter with sugar. It is best to use a hand mixer or food processor. Add the egg and vanilla sugar and, after mixing completely, add the sifted flour with baking soda or baking powder. Mix until smooth.

To form a cookie, pinch small pieces from the dough, roll into balls and dip them in sugar. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, 10 cm apart, then flatten each ball with your fingers, a fork, or the bottom of a glass.

Bake in an oven preheated to 190 degrees for 10-15 minutes. If the pastry is rosy at the edges and remains light in the middle, then it will be soft. If you keep it in the oven for a little longer, it will turn out to be crispy.

Sugar cookies with icing

Prepare the biscuits according to the recipe above, but do not dip in sugar before baking. Transfer the finished cookies to a wire rack. While it cools, prepare the frosting. To do this, melt ¼ cup of butter in a non-stick saucepan, add half a cup of sugar, then add 2 tablespoons of milk and bring to a boil with constant stirring. Remove mixture from heat and add 1 cup powdered sugar. Put the icing on the cookies and cool at room temperature.

Can be coated with biscuits and chocolate icing. To prepare it, use equal parts butter, cocoa powder and condensed milk. Melt the butter in a nonstick dish, add cocoa powder and stir until smooth. Add condensed milk, mix everything thoroughly and remove from heat, then apply the icing to the cookies.

Sugar cookies with filling

Make the basic recipe sugar cookie dough, wrap it in a bag, and refrigerate for an hour. Roll out the cooled dough on a floured table into a layer of 0.5-1 cm. Using a glass or pastry molds, cut out identical figures from the dough. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Put the finished cookies on a wire rack to cool. Grease every second cookie with boiled condensed milk, jam or thick jam. Top with a second cookie to form a “sandwich” with a sweet filling.

Sugar snails with cocoa

This is another sugar cookie variation that combines vanilla and chocolate flavors. Cooking is a little more difficult, but the result will be beautiful and very tasty. An excellent treat for a holiday, especially for children!

Take the ingredients listed in the main recipe. Combine soft butter with sugar, egg and vanilla sugar. Then divide the mass into 2 equal parts by placing them in different containers. Add half flour and half baking powder to one part, mix until smooth. In the other part, the second half of the flour, the second half of the baking powder and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, also mix. Chill both doughs in the refrigerator for an hour.

Roll out two rectangular slices from the chilled dough. Place the chocolate slab on top of the white one. Equalize the edges of the layers by cutting off the excess, and then roll them into a roll. Cut the roll into pieces 1-1.5 cm thick. You will have circles with a spiral white-brown pattern. Place them on a baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar. Place in a preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. When the cookies are browned, they are done.
