Melnik salad is a wonderful treat for a festive table, and on New Year's Eve - an original alternative to traditional Olivier. This beautiful flaky snack is distinguished by a harmonious combination of tastes of vegetables, meat, cheese, eggs, mushrooms, salinity and tenderness of mayonnaise layers.
Miller salad: recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 g chicken breast fillet;
- 5 medium potatoes;
- 4 carrots;
- 2 onions;
- 8 chicken eggs;
- 3 pickles;
- 200 g of hard unsweetened cheese;
- 100-150 g of salted mushrooms;
- 200-250 ml of mayonnaise;
- salt.
Melnik salad is also called hunting salad. Instead of chicken breast, you can put any other meat in it, both boiled and boiled-smoked.
Wash all fresh vegetables. Place the potatoes and carrots in a pot of water and over high heat. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce the temperature to medium, and cook the roots for 25-30 minutes until tender. Place another heat-resistant cookware on the adjacent hotplate and cook the chicken breast in the same way in salted water. Place all prepared salad ingredients on a tray and cool.
Cook hard-boiled chicken eggs and cover them with ice water to cool. Drain the brine from the mushrooms and cut them into small pieces. Remove the husk from the onion and chop it finely. Grate cheese and pickles on a coarse grater. Peel the boiled vegetables and chop with a knife. Remove the shells from the eggs, set 3 aside and chop the rest or crush them with a fork. Chop the poultry fillets finely.
Melnik salad: assembly and decoration
Place the mushroom layer on a flat, round or oval dish. Spread onions in a second layer, in a third - half a serving of grated cheese and generously coat everything with mayonnaise using the back of a tablespoon.
For the convenience of greasing the layers of salad with mayonnaise and its economical use in order to reduce the calorie content of the dish, take a 100-gram sachet, cut off a tiny corner, make a mesh and spread it with a spoon.
Next, place the chicken, pickles and eggs and brush with the prepared sauce again. Then cover everything with carrots and potatoes, sprinkle with a pinch of salt and mayonnaise again.
The salad can be rounded using the cooking ring. Place it on a plate and lay the layers in the order shown, then carefully remove the accessory.
Sprinkle the finished dish with the remaining cheese, grated yolks and garnish with a half-protein basket. Place the plate of Miller salad in the refrigerator for a few hours so that the layers are well saturated.
You can serve the dish on the table in this form or carefully cut the edges to reveal all its colorful splendor.
