It is necessary

  • You will need:
  • - 400 g of minced veal and pork;
  • - 3 medium sized eggplants;
  • - 1 potato;
  • - 1 onion;
  • - half a glass of tomato sauce;
  • - 100 g of cheese;
  • - marjoram and sage to taste;
  • - ground black pepper to taste;
  • - salt to taste.
  • For the Bechamel sauce:
  • - 500 ml of milk;
  • - 1 tbsp. melted butter;
  • - 1 tbsp. flour;
  • - nutmeg to taste.

Instructions

Step 1

Wash and cut the eggplants into 1cm slices. Sprinkle salt on both sides and rinse after 20 minutes.

Step 2

While the eggplants are salting, peel the onion, chop it finely and fry in olive oil until lightly browned.

Step 3

Pat dry the eggplants that have been washed free of salt with a kitchen towel and sauté in the microwave with a little oil.

Step 4

Put salt and black pepper into the minced meat to taste, add the minced meat to the onion and cook further together. While the meat is simmering, make the Bechamel sauce.

Step 5

Put a spoonful of butter in a deep frying pan and, after melting, add flour. Fry it, and then slowly pour in the milk, stirring constantly. At the very end, add ground nutmeg to taste. Please note that Béchamel sauce should be a little thin when hot.

Step 6

When the minced meat is ready, pour a little Béchamel and tomato sauce into it, then stir and let it boil. Reduce heat and simmer.

Step 7

Peel potatoes, wash and cut into slices. It is possible, but not necessary, to fry in olive oil until browning.

Step 8

Everything is ready for the Greek moussaka. Grease the bottom of the deep pan with olive oil, put the potatoes, pour a little tomato sauce over it. Next, layer the eggplant and finally the minced meat. Sprinkle the layers with the marjoram and sage mixture. Put the eggplant, minced meat back in and finish with eggplant again. Drizzle with Béchamel sauce, drizzle a little with tomato sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 200 ° C for 30 minutes. Remove, cut into portions and Greek moussaka can be served.
