Dried squid are among the most popular beer snacks. You can make such a dish at home. If you master this technology and show a little imagination, then you can surprise your guests with the most original tastes. Instead of salt, for example, you can use some spices when drying squid, which will significantly change their flavor.
Preparation of food
You can use any form of squid to make a dried snack at home. If you prefer frozen foods, then please note that you should not defrost carcasses for too long. Otherwise, you won't be able to cut them neatly, and the final result will differ from expectations.
Before deciding what look you will give the dried squid, it is necessary to pour boiling water over the carcasses for a few seconds, and then remove all the films with neat and unhurried movements. Only then proceed to cutting the blanks. Squid can be chopped into rings, thin strips, or even rather large slices.
Cooking process
To make traditional dried squid, you will need 600 g of the main product, 1 liter of room temperature water and 5 tablespoons of salt. Chop the squids in any way, and then dip them in salt water for 5-10 minutes. Place the blanks on a towel or napkin and wait until they dry.
Carry out the final stage of drying the squid using the microwave or conventional oven. This process is quite lengthy and takes about an hour. It is better to dry the squid on the wire rack.
You can add a richer flavor to dried squid by changing the marinating process. Do not dissolve the salt in water, but immediately rub it with crystals of the workpiece. The squid should be soaked for several hours, after which it is dried in the oven in the same way. Remnants of crystals can be removed with a brush or napkin, but it is much easier to use fine salt initially.
Dried squid with herbs and spices
Spices, seasonings and dried herbs will help you make an unusual beer snack from dried squid. With your imagination, you can invent your own dish. When marinating carcasses, you can use not only salt, but also paprika, peppers, chopped onions or garlic. For such experiments, almost any seasoning and spices are suitable.
An original marinade for squid blanks can be made, for example, from sugar, vinegar and pepper. The amount of additional ingredients can be selected at your discretion. Squid should be in the prepared mixture for at least 20-30 minutes. It is better to pre-dilute the vinegar with a little water. An unusual combination of sugar and pepper will add a spicy taste to the appetizer.
