Candied pumpkin is not just tasty and healthy. They may well replace harmful sweets, such as candy. Since pumpkin is a fruit that can be stored almost all year round, candied fruits can also be cooked from it at any time. And if there is an electric fruit dryer, it is twice as easy and convenient to do it.
It is necessary
- - 500 g pumpkin pulp
- - 400 g sugar
- - 1 glass of water
- - 0.5 tsp citric acid (lemon juice)
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the pulp of the pumpkin, and for this it should be peeled from the skin and seeds. Cut into small pieces (cubes, strips). Approximately 2x3cm.
Step 2
Prepare the sugar syrup. To do this, take sugar and pour it with water, bring to a boil, add lemons or lemon juice, cook until the sugar dissolves well. Put the pumpkin pieces in a container in which you can then cook (it is convenient to take a deep frying pan). Pour the syrup over the pumpkin, stir.
Step 3
Put on fire, let it boil, stirring constantly. Cook for a couple of minutes and turn off the heat. Wait for the pumpkin slices to cool in the syrup. And for this they must be left in syrup for a couple of hours. Do this three times. The pumpkin slices will become saturated with syrup, become translucent, and much smaller in size.
Place the pumpkin in a colander and drain the liquid from the pieces. The colander must be installed so that the liquid (pumpkin juice syrup) flows into a tray. This syrup can be good for compote, for example.
Step 4
Let the sweet liquid drain from the pieces. Place candied fruits on wire grates (do not lay closely) in an electric dryer and dry until tender. Turn off the electric dryer and leave the candied fruits in it for a while.
Step 5
Store ready-made candied fruits in the refrigerator, in closed containers, for example, in glass jars with a tight lid.
