Gnocchi are traditional Italian dumplings. They are made from mashed potatoes and flour. First, the gnocchi are boiled and then baked in the oven under Italian fontina cheese. A minimum of hassle and a delicious dish is ready!
It is necessary
- Ingredients for 8 servings:
- - potatoes - 1 kg;
- - flour - 200 g and a little for sprinkling;
- - salt to taste;
- - butter - 80 g and a little to grease the mold;
- - Fontina cheese;
- - parsley for decoration.
Instructions
Step 1
We wash the potatoes well, but do not peel them. Boil over medium heat until cooked in slightly salted water, covered.
Step 2
We peel the potatoes, rub them through a special sieve or grate them, leave them on a table sprinkled with flour to cool slightly.
Step 3
Little by little, add the sifted flour to the potatoes, mix to make an elastic dough that does not stick to your hands. Sprinkle flour on the work surface. Cut the dough into several equal parts and form them into sausages about a finger thick. We cut each sausage into cylinders about 2 centimeters long. Using a fork, lightly press down each piece of dough to get a beautiful pattern. Leave the gnocchi on the table for a while.
Step 4
In a large saucepan, bring lightly salted water to a boil. Boil the gnocchi in small batches, put them on a plate with a slotted spoon as soon as they come up.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 240 degrees, cut the cheese into very thin slices, grease the baking dish with butter. Lay out the gnocchi in layers, alternating with the fontina cheese. Lastly, distribute the diced butter in the form. Cover the mold with foil and put it in the oven for 5-7 minutes to melt the cheese and butter. The traditional Italian dish is ready; all that remains is to decorate it with parsley or any other herb to taste.
