In supermarkets, you can find food for every taste and budget. Often people take those goods that are cheaper or the first to catch their eye. What you need to know about products in order to maximally protect yourself and your loved ones from the effects of harmful additives that are widely used in modern production.
Instructions
Step 1
Buy products made according to GOST (state standard), and not according to TU (technical instructions). On the products of some manufacturers you can see inscriptions like "In accordance with GOST" or "Manufactured in accordance with GOST", but these are common tricks of marketers who are trying to profitably present a product of dubious quality. The GOST must have the correct numbers. Accepted government standards can be easily found on the Internet. Here are some examples: GOST 16131-86 - uncooked smoked sausages, GOST 12028-86 - canned fish. Sardines in oil, GOST 6687.7-88 - soft drinks and kvass.
Step 2
Always pay attention to the expiration date of the item. Supermarkets are very reluctant to write off expired goods, so they use all sorts of tricks, including re-sticking date labels. Try to buy less products that were packaged in the store itself.
Step 3
Look at the name of the products. It should always be original, no “Sour cream” or “Condensed milk”. In the production of products with similar names, harmful vegetable fats and milk powder are often used.
Step 4
Try not to buy products for the promotion. Often, stores organize various days of discounts and sales when they want to quickly sell defective or stale goods. Of course, this does not always happen, but it is better to protect yourself once again from unpleasant surprises.
Step 5
Product packaging should be even, without dents or cracks. Broken packaging makes the product perishable and does not meet the expiration date indicated on the product.
Step 6
You can check chilled meat for freshness in a very simple way: just press on it with your finger. If the meat immediately regained its shape, it means that it has already been in the display case for a long time and has lost a lot of moisture.
Step 7
Never believe what is written on the packaging. Tempting labels such as “Eco-friendly”, “Pediatrician Approved” or “Only Natural Ingredients” simply mislead customers. No examinations for the "naturalness" of a product are officially carried out in Russia, and any manufacturer can write such a statement. By the way, the Institute of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences also does not issue recommendations for food products and does not approve anything.
Step 8
Be sure to look at the composition of the product. The first to write what is in the composition the most. If it is meat stew, then the first ingredient in the composition of the product must certainly be meat, and not vegetable fat or lard.
Step 9
Much has been said and written about supplements under the letter "E". They are harmful. These are all kinds of sweeteners, flavorings, flavor enhancers and colorants. Try to choose a product where the amount of chemical additives is minimized.
