Croutons are sliced and toasted bread. Croutons are made from both black and white bread. Processing bread into crackers significantly extends the shelf life of the bread product. Croutons are prepared with various additives to give them a particular flavor. Spices, garlic, herbs can be used as natural additives. Croutons can be used both as an independent product and as an addition to various dishes, for example, to soups or salads.

- 200-300 g of rye bread,
- 200-300 g of wheat bread,
- 4-5 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp dried basil,
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- 3 tbsp olive oil,
- coarse salt
Instructions
Step 1
Peel the garlic and pass through a press.

Add garlic, basil and pepper to the oil.

Whisk the mixture and leave to infuse for 1-1.5 hours.

Cut the bread into 1.5 cm X 1.5 cm X 1.5 cm cubes.

Stir the croutons quickly, sprinkling with garlic oil and spices.

Place the croutons on a baking sheet and season with salt.

Place the baking sheet in the oven and dry the croutons at a temperature of 100 degrees for 2-2.5 hours.

Keep the oven door slightly ajar.
Step 9
Stir the croutons periodically during cooking.
Step 10
Put the finished croutons in one layer on a paper towel and cool.

Serve croutons with a glass of cold beer or kvass.
