Chicken baked with orange juice, garlic, spices, orange and ginger is a very beautiful, original and tasty dish, which is distinguished by a special tenderness of meat and a light citrus note. Such a dish will decorate any festive table.
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken;
- 1 handful of garlic
- 1 large orange;
- 1 tsp ginger;
- 1 cinnamon stick;
- 150 ml orange juice;
- 4 tbsp. l. olive oil;
- salt and pepper.
Preparation:
- Take a rectangular baking dish (preferably with high sides) and grease it liberally with oil. Note that the size of the mold should correspond to the size of the chicken or be slightly larger than the chicken itself.
- Wash the orange thoroughly, cut into thick circles and place evenly on the bottom of the dish.
- Grate the chicken carcass from all possible sides, first with salt and then with pepper.
- Cut the garlic into cloves and peel. Wash the ginger root and cut into thin slices.
- Place the prepared chicken in a mold on top of the oranges so that its back looks up.
- Arrange the slices of ginger and chives on the sides of the chicken. You can also add 1 cinnamon stick if desired. Pour the contents of the form with olive oil.
- Place the prepared chicken with garlic, orange circles and ginger slices for half an hour in the oven preheated to 200 degrees. During this time, the carcass should be covered with a crispy brown crust.
- After half an hour, remove the form from the oven, pour over its contents with most of the orange juice, seal with foil and send again to the oven for 30 minutes.
- After this time, remove the foil from the mold, pour the remaining juice over the chicken and bake for another quarter of an hour.
- Remove the finished chicken baked with oranges and ginger from the oven, transfer to a dish, garnish with orange slices and herbs as desired. Serve with fresh vegetables or salad, as well as with or without your favorite side dish. Bon Appetit!
