In a double boiler, you can cook healthy and very tasty dishes - for example, buckwheat porridge. Steamed buckwheat turns out to be crumbly and airy, it does not run away and does not burn. Diversify the menu by adding vegetables, meat or mushrooms to cereals - with them buckwheat will turn into a hearty dish for lunch or dinner.
Buckwheat porridge with butter
The simplest option, perfect for a healthy breakfast, is buckwheat porridge on the water. This dish will be an excellent side dish for meat, fish, poultry or offal with sauce.
You will need:
- 1 glass of buckwheat;
- 1, 5 glasses of water;
- salt to taste;
- butter.
Sort the buckwheat and rinse. Place it in the groats compartment and fill with water. Turn on the double boiler and cook the porridge for 40 minutes. If you want to speed up the process, pour boiling water over the buckwheat - then the cooking process will be halved. Add butter to hot porridge, mix well. Separately, you can serve cold or warmed milk.
Instead of butter, porridge can be seasoned with vegetable - sunflower or olive.
Buckwheat with vegetables and chicken
Try to cook a nutritious and healthy dish - buckwheat with various vegetables and chicken fillets. The recipe can be varied by varying the vegetable set to taste, adding herbs and spices.
You will need:
- 1 glass of buckwheat;
- 2 glasses of water;
- 400 g chicken fillet;
- 300 g of cauliflower;
- 1 carrot;
- 1 large bell pepper;
- 200 g green beans;
- 1 small onion;
- salt;
- freshly ground black pepper;
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- a bunch of dill.
Cut the chicken fillet into small pieces. Disassemble the cauliflower into inflorescences, peel the seeds and cut into cubes. Chop the onion in the same way. Go through and rinse the buckwheat. Put the cereals and vegetables in the steamer pan, add salt and pepper, pour in hot water. Cook the porridge for 40 minutes. Season the dish with vegetable oil before serving and stir well. Sprinkle each serving with finely chopped dill.
Buckwheat porridge with onions and mushrooms
Buckwheat with mushrooms is usually baked in the oven, but you can also cook this dish in a double boiler. For this dish, not only champignons are suitable, but also forest mushrooms - porcini, boletus, chanterelles or honey mushrooms.
For the dish, you can use dried mushrooms, having previously boiled them until soft.
You will need:
- 1 glass of buckwheat;
- 2 glasses of water;
- 300 g of fresh mushrooms;
- 1 onion;
- butter;
- salt to taste.
Go through and rinse the buckwheat. Peel the onion and chop finely. Grind the mushrooms in the same way. Melt the butter and pour into the cereal container. Place buckwheat, onion and mushrooms, add hot water and salt. Cook the dish for 40-45 minutes. Stir the porridge well before serving. You can sprinkle it with chopped herbs - dill, celery, parsley.
