Caramelized apples or bananas are a simple and original dessert. Due to minimal processing, fruits retain all the benefits, while acquiring a new, unusual, caramel flavor.

It is necessary

  • - 6 apples,
  • - 400 g granulated sugar,
  • - 100 ml of water,
  • - 1 teaspoon of lemon juice,
  • - 0.5 tsp of sunflower oil.
  • or
  • - 5 bananas (or 10 mini-bananas),
  • - 300 g of sugar,
  • - 100 ml of water,
  • - 30 grams of butter,
  • - 1 teaspoon of white sesame or cinnamon for dusting.

Instructions

Step 1

Take apples, rinse them with baking soda under running water and wipe dry. Insert a long wooden skewer into each fruit and place the prepared fruit aside. Prepare the dishes into which you will add the finished dessert. Be sure to grease the plate with sunflower oil to prevent the hot caramel from sticking to it.

Step 2

Make caramel. Pour sugar and water into a small non-stick saucepan. Squeeze the juice out of the lemon and add 1 teaspoon to the saucepan. Cook the caramel over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spatula. The main thing is that the sugar does not burn, otherwise bitterness will appear, which will ruin the taste of the dessert. As a result, the sugar should completely dissolve and become thick in consistency. Remove the heat, but do not remove the pot from the hotplate.

Step 3

Take apples on a skewer and dip each in caramel. If the apples are large and not completely covered with the mixture, pour a teaspoon over them. Set aside the dessert on a plate, allow time to completely set and harden.

Step 4

In a slightly different way, you can cook fried bananas in caramel. To do this, peel the bananas. If the fruits are large, then cut them into 2-3 parts, but if they are miniature (mini-bananas), leave them whole.

Step 5

Place the butter in a non-stick skillet. As soon as it melts, add sugar, distribute evenly over the bottom of the container and fill it with water. Stir the sugar with a wooden spatula or spoon until it dissolves and changes color. The caramel should thicken and develop a characteristic flavor.

Step 6

Reduce heat to low. Place the prepared bananas in one row in the pan. Toast the caramelized fruit, gently turning it over, about 2 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the bananas from the skillet and place them on a greased plate. Drizzle over the fruit with the remaining caramel and sprinkle with sesame seeds or cinnamon to your liking. Let the dessert cool completely.
