Pumpkin is one of the wonderful symbols of autumn. Desserts, cereals, side dishes, etc. are prepared from it. This vegetable is indispensable for dietary nutrition, because 100 g contains only 30 kcal.
The best way to cook pumpkin is to bake it in the oven. To do this, it is better to choose a medium-sized vegetable, since a dish that is too large will turn out to be dry and watery. It is important to pay attention to the color of the pulp. It should be bright yellow or orange. By the way, if there is a lot to cook the whole fruit, the remaining pumpkin can be cut into pieces and frozen.
This dish can be prepared for breakfast or dinner. For two servings you will need:
- 1/2 medium pumpkin
- 1 medium apple
- a handful of fresh or frozen berries,
- a pinch of cinnamon
- ¼ glasses of sugar,
- 1 tsp butter.
You need to cut the whole pumpkin so that a pot is obtained from the half. Seeds are removed from it with a spoon. Apples are cut into cubes, mixed with berries, cinnamon and sugar. The filling is placed in the pumpkin, and on top is a piece of butter. The pot is baked at 180 degrees for about 1.5-2 hours so that the fruit becomes soft and the flesh easily comes off the peel.
Pumpkin can be baked without spices and other products. To do this, put it on a baking sheet covered with foil, and put it in an oven preheated to 200 degrees. It is difficult to determine the cooking time, so after about 1 hour you need to start checking it. The finished vegetable becomes completely soft. The pumpkin is served with caramel syrup. To prepare it you will need:
- 50 g sugar
- 1-2 s.l. honey,
- zest of ½ lemon,
- 30 g grated ginger
- some water.
Lemon zest and ginger are rubbed on a fine grater. Pour sugar into the pan and add a little water, stir constantly to make caramel. Then add ginger and zest to it, simmer on the fire for several minutes and pour the zest with hot syrup.
