Champignon belongs to the type of lamellar mushrooms that are eaten in a wide variety of forms: they are stewed, fried, boiled and even salted. At the same time, you can ensure the presence of these mushrooms on your table in various ways. The first of them, traditional for other types of mushrooms, is to try to find them in the wild in a nearby forest or grove and, having collected your catch, prepare a healthy and nutritious dish from it.

However, this method is notable for its unpredictability: it is quite possible that the place for gathering will be poorly chosen, or the weather preceding the trip to the forest did not favor the appearance of mushrooms. Therefore, in order to guarantee their presence on your table, you should go to the store. The fact is that champignons are actively grown in artificial conditions, so they are widely represented in stores as frozen semi-finished products or ready-to-eat canned food.

Calorie champignons

Champignons have gained particular popularity among people who watch their weight, due to the relatively low calorie content, combined with the excellent taste of this product. So, 100 grams of raw mushrooms contain only 27 kilocalories, which is comparable to the calorie content of the "lightest" category of food - vegetables: for example, cabbage or tomatoes. Moreover, even the calorie content of fruits in most cases turns out to be significantly lower than that of champignons: for example, 100 grams of apples contain 45 kilocalories, and 100 grams of bananas contain about 90 kilocalories.

In addition, champignons, like other mushrooms, provide a fairly quick feeling of fullness: this, according to nutritionists, is a consequence of the fact that they are predominantly a protein product. So, 100 grams of these mushrooms contain 4.3 grams of proteins, 1 gram of fat and only 0.1 grams of carbohydrates.

However, when planning to include mushrooms in your diet as a non-nutritive product, do not forget that the final energy value of the finished dish largely depends on the way it is prepared and other ingredients added during the cooking process. So, for example, champignons fried in vegetable oil will already have an order of magnitude higher calorie content: for example, if you use 30 grams of oil to prepare 300 grams of raw product, the total calorie content of the finished dish will already be about 350 kilocalories. Therefore, in order for champignons to remain a low-calorie product that promotes weight loss, you should stop at boiling or stewing these mushrooms.
