What is the harm of fast food

Fast food (from the English "fast food") is a meal with a minimum amount of time for preparing and eating dishes, with or without simplified cutlery. The main harm of such food is not at all that it is fast, but in the quality of food. Often, fast food manufacturers use flavors. Usually, these substances are not dangerous in themselves and are used in a strictly standardized amount. But the hidden harm lies in the fact that these flavor enhancers encourage a person to eat more and can provoke obesity.

But the main danger of fast food is that so-called trans fats are often used in its preparation to reduce the cost of products, which pose a direct threat to health: they impair immunity, increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus and cancer, and negatively affect hormones. According to British scientists, among active consumers of hydrogenated fats, mortality from heart attacks, coronary heart disease and breast cancer is significantly higher.

But here, too, you need to be careful: some consider only all sorts of hamburgers and hot dogs harmful, thinking that pancakes and pies are healthier anyway, because this is "our" food, not American. However, according to the USDA, a standard cheeseburger contains only 0.7% trans fat, while ice cream made with vegetable oils or pasties can be as high as 35%.

However, the modern rhythm of life is such that the townspeople simply do not have the opportunity to eat at home. A good alternative to "fast food" can be an inexpensive cafe or a canteen near the place of work or study. Such establishments often offer a set menu, which will not cost much more than a meal at McDonald's.

If there is no time for such a meal, healthy fast foods can be brought to work with you from home or from the nearest supermarket.

Nuts or a mixture of them with dried fruits - they are high in protein, vitamins and minerals, this is a nutritious and high-calorie snack that can replace lunch.

Sandwiches: If you make them with whole grain bread and use a slice of natural meat, cheese, cucumber or tomato instead of sausage, it will be both tasty and healthy.

Banana: This medium-sized fruit contains at least 100 kcal and provides the body with potassium and vitamins.

You can prepare salad or stews and bring to work in a container. To make the dish more satisfying, you can add legumes to it: beans or lentils.
