Forshmak is an amazing herring fish appetizer with simple ingredients such as butter, onions and eggs. You can make sandwiches with it or serve with boiled potatoes. The dish has the most delicate texture and turns out to be very tasty.
It is necessary
- - Slightly salted herring of large size - 1 pc. or fillet - 400 g;
- - Sour green apple - 0.5 pcs.;
- - Chicken eggs - 4 pcs.;
- - Small onions - 1 pc.;
- - Butter - 50 g;
- - Bread (loaf or black) - 2 slices;
- - Ground black pepper;
- - Sunflower oil - 0.5 tbsp. l.;
- - Fresh dill - 0.5 bunch (optional);
- - Vinegar 9% - 1 tbsp. l. (optional);
- - Meat grinder.
Instructions
Step 1
Place the chicken eggs in a saucepan with salted cold water, bring to a boil and cook hard-boiled for 8-10 minutes. Then cool them down and remove the shells.
Step 2
Peel the herring from the entrails, cut off the head and tail, remove the ridge, and then cut the carcass into pieces. If small bones remain, they will need to be removed.
Step 3
Remove the butter from the refrigerator and leave on the table to soften a little. Peel the onions and apple and chop into several pieces. Place the pieces of bread in a small cup of water and leave to soak for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Pass the prepared pieces of herring (fillet), boiled eggs, onion and an apple through a meat grinder. Mix everything in a bowl, adding soft butter and black ground pepper.
Step 5
Knead the softened bread with your hands and place it with the rest of the ingredients along with the sunflower oil. Add vinegar, chopped dill if desired and mix well again. After that, the appetizer can be served immediately.
