We have long been accustomed to sunflower oil, sometimes using olive oil. But lately, more and more types of vegetable oil can be seen on the shelves in stores. And each oil has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Sunflower oil. The most familiar to us. It has a neutral taste, contains a lot of vitamin E. It goes well with salads and other thermally unprocessed foods. But sunflower oil is not suitable for deep-frying, as it is not heat-resistant enough.
Olive oil. Ideal for salads and as a condiment. Very tasty and can reduce the content of "bad" cholesterol. The oil contains antioxidants that protect cells from aging. But olive oil has little vitamin E and almost no omega-3 acids.
Rapeseed oil. Balanced oil, rich in vitamin E and omega-3 acids. But rapeseed oil has a specific taste and is not very suitable for frying. The oil can be used with salads and sprouted legumes.
Grape seed oil. This oil is rich in omega-6 acids and tocopherols (antioxidants derived from vitamin E). The oil is quite thermally stable, well suited for hot dishes and seasonings. Grape seed oil is considered difficult to digest due to its high content of omega-6 acids, so it is often not recommended to use it.
Peanut butter. Ideal for frying and deep-frying. Does not interrupt the taste of the main product, taste neutral and goes well with almost any product. But it should be borne in mind that this oil contains a large amount of fatty acids and often causes allergies.
Walnut oil. This oil has a harsh flavor, but goes well with fish and some salads. It is rich in omega-3 acids and is suitable for use as a condiment. Walnut oil does not store well, so you should buy it in small quantities and store it in the refrigerator.
Sesame oil. The oil contains vitamin E and has an interesting property - it normalizes blood pressure and lowers hypertension. And all thanks to the presence of a high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The oil must not be heated. Store the oil at room temperature as it may darken in the refrigerator.
Cedar oil. Pine nut oil is rich in vitamin F and contains unsaturated fatty acids. Cedar nut oil strengthens the immune system and has an exquisite spicy aroma. Cedar nut oil is added to salad dressings.
Hazelnut oil, wheat germ oil, corn oil, and flaxseed oil are still less popular and are rarely found in stores. But after all, not so long ago, olive oil was exotic, and now it is actively used in salads.
