Halibut with bell pepper sauce is an exquisite dish suitable for a festive dinner. This dish is not only tasty, but also has an elegant look. Dry white or slightly chilled red wine is perfect for halibut with pepper sauce.

Main Ingredients:

  • halibut fillet (can be replaced with another fish) - 800 g;
  • ground black pepper;
  • salt - 1 tsp;
  • flour - 2 tablespoons;
  • butter - 2 tablespoons

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • red pepper (large) - 2 pcs;
  • onions - 2 pcs (use shallots if possible);
  • white wine - 50 g;
  • heavy cream - 200 g;
  • salt;
  • Cayenne pepper;
  • bell pepper for decoration.

Preparation:

  1. The sauce is prepared first. To do this, you need to cut the red pepper lengthwise and remove the seeds. Chop the pepper into thin slices. Peel and chop the onions.
  2. Place the cream in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Then put prepared peppers and onions in boiled cream. Keep on fire for 20 minutes. Wait until the pepper is soft and ruddy.
  3. At the next stage of preparing the sauce, you need to mix the sour cream boiled with onions and pepper in a mixer or food processor. Pour the mixed mixture back into a saucepan, add white wine, sprinkle with salt and cayenne (chili) pepper to taste. Keep the cooked sauce warm so that it doesn't cool completely.
  4. Next, you need to prepare the halibut fillet. To do this, check: are there any bones and skins left in the fillet, if they were found to be removed. Cut the fish fillets into equal sized portions. Then season the fish fillet with pepper and salt and roll well in flour.
  5. Then melt the oil in a frying pan and fry the fish in it over moderate heat on both sides. It is important not to overcook the fish, it should turn slightly golden.
  6. Now you need to serve the dish. To do this, cut the colored bell pepper prepared for decoration into thin strips. Fry them in oil and dry.
  7. Place the finished halibut on a warm serving platter. Garnish the fish with sautéed pepper strips.
  8. The sauce is served in gravy boats, it can also be poured into plates, and halibut and strips of pepper can be placed on top.

Rice or boiled potatoes are a great addition to halibut with pepper sauce.
