Marmalade is a delicacy that many people of different ages love. Unfortunately, the marmalade that can be found on store shelves is of little use for food, since it is made from sugar syrup, pectin with the addition of food colors and flavors. In the summer you can prepare homemade marmalade, delicious, aromatic and natural.

It is necessary

  • - plum - 1 kg
  • - water - 1 l
  • - sugar - 1.5 kg
  • - sugar - 5 tablespoons
  • - starch - 3 tablespoons

Instructions

Step 1

Sort out the plums, taking away the spoiled fruits, and rinse the high-quality berries, fill them with water, add one kilogram of sugar.

Simmer over high heat until the water boils and the sugar is completely dissolved. Boil on the lowest heat until large bubbles appear. Make sure that the syrup does not spill out of the container in which it is boiled. This can be a copper, enamel or stainless steel bowl or saucepan. Choose pans with a large volume, as the amount of liquid will inevitably increase during the cooking process.

Step 2

Strain the syrup, rub the fruits through a sieve, removing the seeds and skin of the plum fruit. Add the resulting fruit puree to the syrup.

Place the cookware on the stove and continue to boil over the lowest heat until the mass is approximately halved.

Add another 500 grams of granulated sugar and continue to cook the syrup until the volume is reduced by about half.

Step 3

Mix five tablespoons of granulated sugar with three tablespoons of any starch. This mixture should be sprinkled on molds. Take silicone molds for ice or chocolate, as it will be easier to remove the finished marmalade from them.

Pour hot thick syrup into molds, refrigerate and wait for solidification by placing the molds in the refrigerator for several hours.

Step 4

Carefully remove the marmalade from the molds, put it in a glass jar, pouring it with a mixture of granulated sugar and starch. Close the jar with a lid. You can store such marmalade in the refrigerator.
