Few holiday feasts are complete without sweet dishes. The most ambitious of them is usually left at the end of the event, since this order of serving dishes sums up the "gatherings". The Stepka-rattle cake is an excellent option for a birthday party or an everyday table.
The cake will take approximately 50 minutes to prepare.
Essential cake products
The dough will need the following ingredients:
- wheat flour - 320 g;
- water - 125 g;
- margarine - 250 g;
- citric acid - to taste;
- icing sugar - to taste;
- salt - a quarter teaspoon.
To prepare a delicious cream, you must have:
- condensed milk - 400 g;
- butter - 200 g;
- chopped walnuts - 200 g.
The main stages of preparation
First, you should first boil the condensed milk. It reaches its condition in 40-60 minutes. Then it must be cooled.
Meanwhile, flour and margarine are chopped with a knife until they are finely crumbled. The mixture is poured with water in combination with salt and citric acid and the dough is kneaded. This procedure is best done in a large bowl.
Then it is necessary to carefully shape the dough into a rope with a diameter of 5-6 centimeters and cut it into 8 juicy ones. After that, they are wrapped in parchment paper and placed in the refrigerator, where they must be kept for one hour.
After the required amount of time has elapsed, the parts of the dough are rolled out so that their thickness is 0.3-0.5 centimeters, and placed in the oven for 5-8 minutes. In this case, the baking temperature should be equal to 200 ° C. It is worth recalling that the baking sheet must be sprinkled with flour, and it is recommended to pierce the dough with a fork to prevent the appearance of bubbles. It is better to shape future cakes before baking, since they can break when finished.
While the baked goods are cooling, you can do the cream. Beat butter at room temperature by adding condensed milk in small portions. The mixture should be fluffy and firm. Then part of the nuts is mixed into the cream. Experienced pastry chefs advise to brown the nut mass a little in a dry frying pan. Thus, they will acquire a unique aroma that will become a "highlight" in the cake.
The last step to getting a tasty and flavorful cake is to flatten the cakes by trimming the cakes. The resulting cuttings are crushed and combined with the rest of the nuts. The cakes are alternately stacked one on top of the other, not forgetting about sandwiching them with cream. As a result, it remains only to grease the top layer with cream, sprinkle the surface with a mixture of crumbs and nuts, add powdered sugar if desired.
Children can be offered a milkshake to the cake, and adults should be pleased with delicious coffee and tea with herbs and berries.
