Food entering the human body has a complex composition and includes organic matter: proteins, fats and carbohydrates. They are all important for health and have specific functions. Proteins are the building blocks of the body and are involved in the growth and development of tissues. Protein refers to foods that are high in protein, but that doesn't mean they don't contain fats or carbohydrates.
Protein
Proteins are also known as proteins. These are amino acid sequences linked by peptides, resulting in the formation of organic substances with specific functions. Proteins are essential for human health, since not all amino acids can be synthesized in the body - some of them must come from food. They perform a number of functions: they catalyze chemical reactions, shape cells and their organs, protect tissues from physical, chemical and biological influences, regulate cellular processes, transport substances throughout the body, transmit signals between tissues and organs, store energy, and provide movement.
In everyday life, a person rarely thinks about all the functions of proteins and most often knows only about their building abilities. Proteins are the structural elements of the whole organism: they form muscles, skin, connective tissue, nails, hair. The lack of these substances affects the health of a person and the development of his organs, it is especially important to get a sufficient amount of proteins during the growth period, during pregnancy, with serious physical exertion. Also, intensive protein metabolism occurs during lactation, during menstruation or spermatogenesis in men. But in other cases, the body needs a certain amount of proteins.
Protein food
Scientists have found that if a person does not consume protein with food, then daily for the synthesis of the necessary amino acids, his tissues will be broken down to create 23.2 grams of protein. This figure was taken as the norm for the consumption of protein substances per day, although in practice it turned out that this amount is not enough to maintain health, since the absorption of proteins depends on many factors. It is necessary to take into account age, gender, body condition, physical activity. So, people who play sports should consume about 150 grams of protein per day. Small children under three years old need 55 grams of protein, and adolescents - 106.
A protein food is one that is high in protein compared to carbohydrates and fats. The amount of protein is high in animal products - meat, cheese, cottage cheese, eggs. Quite a lot of protein is found in legumes, nuts, and some cereals. There are many of these substances in soy products. But it is important to understand that those proteins are best absorbed, the structure of which is close to the structure of amino acids in the human body: this is only animal food.
Excessive consumption of proteins is also harmful, since they are not completely absorbed, and over time, due to the large amount of protein foods, its digestion deteriorates.
