Eggs are one of the most commonly used foods in cooking, so it is not surprising that many are interested in the question of how long they can be stored. It is worth noting that the shelf life of this product depends on the temperature at which it is stored.

The shelf life of eggs, as mentioned above, depends on the temperature regime, as well as the storage location and freshness of the product itself. At a temperature of about 1-2 ° C, eggs can be stored for up to three to four months, provided that they are stored motionless in the refrigerator, that is, not in the compartment of the door, but on a shelf, and in a special container or tray in which they were sold.

It is necessary to lay eggs in the container with the sharp end down, not washing before laying. If these conditions are not met, then it is advisable to use the eggs within five weeks. It is worth noting that it is undesirable to store eggs near pungent-smelling foods, as they can absorb odors. Also, they should be protected from contact with raw fish, meat.

At a higher temperature (from 6 to 20 degrees), the period of eggs is significantly reduced and does not exceed 25 days. The shelf life and storage conditions of turkey eggs are similar to those of chicken eggs. Waterfowl eggs can be stored in the refrigerator for much less - no more than 14 days, but quail eggs - up to three months.

To avoid poisoning, turkey, chicken, goose and duck eggs must be heat treated for at least five minutes. Quail eggs can also be eaten raw. Hard-boiled eggs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 10 days, with cracked shells - no more than five days. Longer storage of these products increases the risk of microbial contamination, and therefore the risk of poisoning, so try to follow the rules described above.
