Moonshine is obtained from home brew by distillation using a moonshine still. After the distillation process, this strong drink needs to be cleaned of harmful impurities, as well as get rid of an unpleasant odor.

Step 1

Clean the finished moonshine from impurities with potassium permanganate. Pour 2 - 3 grams of potassium permanganate into a three-liter jar of moonshine. Close the jar, shake it and place in a water bath at a temperature of 50 - 70 degrees Celsius for 10 - 15 minutes. Wait for the sediment to settle and pour in a clean drink.

Step 2

Add 8-10 g of baking soda to 1 liter of moonshine. Stir and leave to infuse for 20 to 30 minutes. Then stir again. After 10 to 12 hours, drain the liquid and remove the sediment.

Step 3

Freeze the moonshine - this will improve its taste, and the water that has frozen to the wall of the container will absorb fusel impurities. Pour the moonshine into a thick-walled container, such as a champagne bottle, close and place in the freezer or freeze for a few days. Water, together with impurities, turn into ice. After that, pour the clean moonshine into another container until the ice melts.

Step 4

Add 50 tablets of activated carbon to 3 liters of moonshine alcohol, 2 tbsp. tablespoons of oak bark, a pinch of vanilla, a handful of dried bird cherry and leave for a week. Then strain and add another 20 to 40 activated charcoal tablets. Leave to infuse for at least another week. Or run the moonshine through the water filter several times, using a new cassette.

Step 5

Whisk the protein with water or 200 ml of skim milk and immediately pour into 1 liter of home brew. After 2 - 4 days, when the mixture brightens and the flakes settle to the bottom, pour the clear liquid into another container.

Step 6

Get rid of the unpleasant smell with charcoal - take 400 g of fresh birch charcoal for 12 liters of moonshine. Infuse the mixture until the charcoal settles to the bottom and the liquid is clear. Then carefully drain the moonshine and dilute with water (for 2 parts of the drink, 1 part of water). Add 800 g of crushed raisins, walnuts, parsley or apples and re-run the moonshine through the apparatus.
