Flour is used for homemade baking and other cooking recipes. At the same time, it is customary to measure it in various ways - both traditional grams and kilograms, and glasses and spoons used mainly in cooking.
Flour in cooking is often measured in glasses: this method of measuring the right amount of food can be found in many recipes. However, sometimes it becomes necessary to convert this rather convenient unit of measurement into a more traditional one - for example, kilograms.
A glass of flour
In cooking, to measure out the required amount of a product, in most cases, not any, but a very specific type of glass is used - a faceted glass, familiar to many housewives since the times of the USSR. Moreover, such a glass has a certain peculiarity: its main part is a faceted cylinder of a slightly truncated shape, and the upper part is made in the form of a smooth rim. The line passing between the faceted and smooth part of the glass is most often called a line.
At the same time, in cooking, there are two main options for filling a faceted glass: to the top and to the risks. This applies to a wide variety of products, the amount of which is usually measured in glasses, and also applies to flour. At the same time, it is obvious that the weight of the finished product in a filled glass will directly depend on the way it is filled. So, a glass of flour, filled to the risk, will contain about 130 grams of the product, and a glass filled to the top will already contain 150 grams.
Kilogram of flour
In turn, in order to understand how many glasses of flour form one kilogram of this product, it is necessary to understand what method of filling the glass in question in this case. So, in culinary recipes, they usually indicate whether the glass should be filled to the risk or to the brim. If there is no such indication, in a significant part of the cases we are talking about filling the glass to the risk.
Thus, in different cases, the number of glasses of flour that form a kilogram of product will differ. However, simple arithmetic shows that in both situations the kilogram will be a fraction of the number of glasses. So, if you measure the number of glasses of flour filled to the risks that are necessary in order to get a kilogram of flour, this can be done on the basis of a simple calculation: 1 kilogram / 130 grams = 1000 grams / 130 grams = 7.69 cups. Thus, in order to get a kilogram of flour using glasses filled to risk, it will take seven full glasses and another one, about 3/4 full.
As for the glasses poured to the top, here the corresponding numbers should be substituted into the above equality: 1 kilogram / 150 grams = 1000 grams / 150 grams = 6.67 glasses. Therefore, a kilogram of flour forms 6 full glasses and another one, containing about 3/4 of the product.
