Few people know what Epsom salt is and why it is needed. However, it is a very useful and affordable tool for maintaining beauty and strengthening human health.
What is Epsom Salt
The botanist Nehemiah Grew was the first to obtain Epson salt from a mineral spring in Epson. At its core, it is magnesium sulfate.
During the manufacturing process, the carbon component of magnesium carbonate is replaced with hydrogen sulfide, resulting in magnesium sulfate. However, magnesium actively reacts with carbon, and magnesium sulfate displaces the hydrogen sulfide component, re-combining with carbon.
It is magnesium's craving for carbon that is the main secret of the healing properties of Epsom salts. Magnesium absorbs carbon in toxins, making harmful waste products soluble and facilitating and accelerating their elimination from the body.
Using Epsom Salt
Epsom salts are most commonly used in medicinal baths. Such baths relieve fatigue, calm the nervous system, relieve muscle tension, reduce arthritic pain, remove toxins and exfoliate the skin well.
Prepare a medicinal bath as follows: add 0.5-1 kg of Epsom salts to a filled bath. Then the water must be mixed well until the salt is completely dissolved. It is better to take such a bath before going to bed for 15-20 minutes. It is recommended that you drink a glass of water before taking an Epsom salt bath.
Epsom salt baths are also a good way to lose weight. Salt removes toxins and toxins from the body, thereby cleansing it. However, remember that a large amount of fluid is excreted with toxins, so remember to drink enough water (1.5 to 2 liters of clean water per day).
You can also make special Epsom salt mixtures for therapeutic baths. Pour salt into a glass container, add various herbs (lavender, mint, chamomile) or essential oils to it (7-10 drops of oil per 1 glass of salt). Stir the resulting mixture and, as necessary, pour into a bag made of natural fabric (linen, cotton). To prepare a therapeutic bath, such a bag must be hung on a tap so that water flows through it.
Epsom salt belly wraps are very helpful. This procedure reduces fat deposits and makes the skin smooth and supple. For wrapping, you need to prepare the following mixture: add 1 tablespoon of salt and 7-10 drops of peppermint or menthol oil to ¼ glass of water. Moisten a cotton cloth in the resulting solution, squeeze lightly and wrap around the abdomen. Wrap the bandage on top with foil (food or special for wrapping) and keep for 15-20 minutes. The duration of the course is 7-10 days.
In addition to medicinal baths, Epsom salt is used in medicine, in agriculture (as fertilizer), in the food industry, in particular in conservation. You can find Epsom salts at pharmacies or specialty stores.
