It is necessary

800g of cod - 1 head of onion - 250 ml. low-fat cream or liquid sour cream - 1 tsp. vegetable oil - 80-100 g of hard cheese - 1/2 lemon - 1 tsp. dried herbs (dill, parsley, basil) - Salt, pepper to taste - Fresh herbs for decoration

Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the cod thoroughly under cold running water, remove the skin and separate the meat from the bones. In order to make it easier to separate the loin, the fish should be slightly frozen. Blot moisture off with a paper towel.

Step 2

Because cod has a specific, so-called sea smell, then it is better to marinate it before cooking. Place the cod fillet in a bowl and squeeze the lemon juice onto it. Cover and leave in a cool place for 30 minutes. Cold water with vinegar or dry white wine can also serve as an excellent marinade.

Step 3

Peel the onion and chop it into rings.

Step 4

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. The cheese must be hard. Dutch cheese is ideal and is easy to find in any store.

Step 5

Prepare the sauce in which the fish will be baked. In a bowl, combine cream or sour cream, vegetable oil, dried herbs, salt and pepper. Stir well until smooth. You can use an alternative option - take milk as the base of the sauce. The approximate proportion is 0.5 liters of milk per 1 kg of fish.

Step 6

Place the marinated fish fillets in a baking dish, after cutting them into medium-sized cubes. Cover the cod evenly with a layer of onion and pour over the resulting sauce. Sprinkle with grated cheese on top.

Step 7

Preheat oven to 200 ° C and place the completed form in it. Wait until ready, you need 25-30 minutes.

Step 8

Cod in a creamy sauce with a delicious golden crust is ready! Boiled potatoes, stewed rice with vegetables or barley porridge are perfect for garnish. Decorate the dish with herbs before serving.
