Cleaning a pomegranate is often a challenge. It is difficult to cut it without staining clothes and tablecloths, and the separation of the grains from the peel seems to be an incredibly long and boring process. And so you want to quickly enjoy the amazing pomegranate taste! Meanwhile, the way to peel pomegranates quickly and without splashing is very simple.

It is necessary

  • - knife;
  • - a deep bowl of water;
  • - colander;
  • - a small container for pomegranate seeds.

Instructions

Step 1

Take the pomegranate in one hand so that its "tail" is on top. Step back about 5 cm from the top, make a circular cut in the peel without touching the grains. After that, remove the resulting "cap" of the peel - it comes off quite easily.

Step 2

Exposing the top of the flesh, you will see that it is divided into several segments by white, soft veins. Make longitudinal cuts in the rind along these veins, still not touching the grains. It is better not to bring the cuts to the lowest point of the pomegranate by 2-3 cm.

Step 3

After making the cuts, apply a little pressure on the top of the pomegranate with your thumbs. It will split into slices, indicated by incisions. After that, you can easily remove the membranes and the white center of the pomegranate.

Step 4

Take a deep bowl and fill it with room temperature water. Turn the cut pomegranate upside down, dip it into the water and use your fingers to separate the kernels from the rind. This will allow you to completely avoid splashing the juice. The whole, unspoiled grains will sink to the bottom of the bowl. The membranes and spoiled grains, on the contrary, will float to the surface of the water.

Step 5

When you are finished cleaning, collect and discard any emerging membranes and other debris. Only water and pomegranate seeds will remain in the bowl. Use a colander to drain the water and place the beans in a convenient container.
