Lenten pancakes are a real salvation for those with a sweet tooth and lovers of baking during Lent. They almost do not differ in taste from the traditional version of pancakes, moreover, they are less high in calories.
It is necessary
- - 200 grams of flour;
- - 700 ml of water;
- - 1/2 tsp. soda;
- - 4 tbsp. l. vegetable oil;
- - granulated sugar;
- - salt.
Instructions
Step 1
To bake lean pancakes, prepare the wheat flour first. Take a strainer and place it over a convenient-sized plate or dish. Next, add the required amount of flour into it and sift it. This is done so that there are no lumps and foreign particles in the flour. Then add baking soda, granulated sugar and salt to the flour and mix well. Add vanilla sugar or vanilla extract to the dough, you can also add ground cinnamon or ground ginger, so your baked goods will be even tastier and more aromatic.
Step 2
Cool clean water in the refrigerator, then pour it into a large bowl. Then add the required amount of vegetable oil and mix thoroughly with a tablespoon. In the resulting mixture of oil and water, carefully add the sifted flour, beat with a mixer or a whisk until a homogeneous consistency without lumps. Instead of pure cold water, you can use soda water to make delicious lean pancakes. This ingredient will make the baked goods more fluffy and tender.
Step 3
Do not be alarmed that the dough turns out to be too liquid, this consistency provides easy spreading in the pan, and the pancakes turn out to be thin and airy. However, if the dough is not baking, add flour.
Step 4
Take a frying pan and brush it with a little vegetable oil, then heat it over medium heat. When the pan is hot enough, pour the first portion of the dough over it. Fry the pancake on one side for 1-2 minutes until golden brown, then turn it over and fry in the same way on the other side.
Step 5
Transfer the finished pancake to a plate and bake the rest of the lean pancakes. Place ready-made pancakes in a stack.
Step 6
Lenten pancakes are ready! You can serve them hot or cold. Jams, preserves, honey, fruit syrups, as well as fresh fruits and berries will go well with lean pancakes. If you add more salt than granulated sugar to lean pancakes, cabbage, potatoes with herbs, or other vegetables and mushrooms are great fillings.
Step 7
Such lean pastries can please children during a strict fast, because they are terrible sweet teeth, and adults are sometimes worse than children.
